Cheeseburger Deluxe Recipe
Ingredients
- 1/2 small iceberg lettuce, very finely shredded
- 4 T mayo (I use low fat)
- 2 T Ketchup
- 2 T Frank's Red Hot
- 1 T Worcestershire sauce
- 1 red onion
- 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
- 1 t sugar
- 1.5 lbs ground meat
- 3 t dijon mustard
- 3 t Frank's Red Hot
- Salt and pepper
- 4 buns of your choice
- 4 slices cheese of your choice
Directions
1. Make your magic sauce first by combining lettuce, mayo, ketchup, hot sauce and worcestershire. Salt and pepper to taste and allow to sit for at least a half hour so the lettuce gets soggy. This will make a lot of sauce. You can keep it in your refrigerator for up to a week. It's yummy on all sandwiches.
2. Next make your pickled onions by shredding the red onion and combining with red wine vinegar, sugar and a pinch of salt. This will also hold well in your refrigerator for a long time.
3. For the burgers: Make into 4 equal patties. Salt and pepper on both sides and poke a dent in the middle this way they will be even(ish) after they cook.
4. Combine equal parts (about 3T) dijon mustard and hot sauce and brush both sides.
5. Cook burgers to desired temperature either on grill or stovetop. About 4 minutes per side for medium rare adding a slice of cheese in the last minute of cooking if desired. Build your burger and enjoy with truffle fries. (For truffle fry recipe see description the rib eye page)
